Love Vindicated by Lila Munro

In 1980, Kyle Montgomery’s life was seemingly perfect. Heavily recruited by Force Recon fresh from the Naval Academy, he’d been working black ops for the Marine Corps for six years and was on the cusp of being promoted to Major. He was on the fast track to bigger and better things, had all the right people vetting him, and he'd married the woman of his dreams and was exploring a lifestyle which could have ended his career. With the Iranian embassy under siege and the Middle East in turmoil, Kyle was sent on a mission which would change the course of his life forever.

Returning home after three months of being invisible, Kyle finds his wife has been murdered by the very people he'd been sent to protect. And instead of the government retaliating, they hand him his walking papers with the agreement they’ll never speak of the events again. It's like Kyle never existed. His wife never existed. And the people who maimed and tortured her never existed.
Resigned to never again walk that path, Kyle opens the first Steele Image club with the thought of providing a safe haven for others like him, those who were invisible to the public and most of the government. Those who had eclectic sexual tastes. Those who would later become his allies. And his enemies. And both will drive him back to the place he’d thought he’d let go of forever to vindicate his love…

 Excerpt:

Silence ensued as Kyle moved to the door to wait, placing his forehead on the smooth wood and asking himself if he was absolutely certain this was what he really wanted. Who was he kidding? It wasn’t just what he wanted, it was what he needed. Just one night then he’d neatly repair the fence which now had a hole in it and fortify it so when another Missy came along she didn’t rip another gaping abyss in it where the notion of what he was about to do could meander in like a lost sheep.

When a light tapping at the door came a few minutes later, he didn’t move. His dick reminded him why he’d made the call in the first place and strained toward the flesh and blood waiting ready and willing in the hallway. With his heart racing and a cold sweat erupting down his back, he stood still and took a few breaths.

“Kyle, baby, it’s me.” Sadie’s sanded smooth alto tone rolled through him, soothing as always. It was one of the things Kyle appreciated about the woman. Her voice was such a pitch whenever she spoke it never came out as a squawk or shrill instead it lazed along him like a river of warm honey. He’d often wondered what it would sound like when she came with ferocity and his intent was to finally find out. Just one night. “Kyle? Let me in, please.”

He pushed off the door and opened it only to stare at her unable to form a single syllable.

“What the hell is wr…”

Before she could complete her question, Kyle grabbed her by the wrist and jerked her inside, shut the door behind her, then shoved her up against the wall, and before he let the sliver of doubt snaking its way up his neck take root, he grabbed her head with both hands and devoured her mouth.

Happy Thursday!

A sexy cop with a broken heart is about to be taught a lesson.
He took a step back, visibly shocked. His dark brown eyes fell to her hips and the area between her legs, before coming up to her breasts. She warmed all over. It was as if he were touching her there instead of just looking.

Finally, he shook his head and locked eyes with hers. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”

“I’m trying to get in your pants,” she said matter-of-factly.

“I can see that. I thought I made myself clear the other night.”

“Yes, I know. You said you want to be friends. But that’s a load of shit. You know it and I know it.”

He colored. “I know that a little girl like you is going to get yourself into a lot of trouble one of these days. This kind of thing…” He motioned toward her general nakedness. “…is going to get you hurt. Do you come on to a lot of men like this?”

“No.” She shook her head. “Just you.” She was being honest. This was a rash new tact.

Taking another step back, he had to hop a little to avoid the scattered flowers. “Is this why you invited me over? It’s not your birthday?”

“It is my birthday. I did fib a little though. I’m not having a party.” She stuck her bottom lip out in her best sultry pout. She was pulling out the big guns now and he still hadn’t laid so much as a finger on her. The sliver of doubt from the other night needled its way into her subconscious. You’re white trash, Hope. He doesn’t want you.

"Outside on the office floor the man who sits alone in a grouping of three desks catches my eye. Not much older than me, if I had to guess I’d say maybe he’s about 30. His full head of dark blonde hair, a bit messy and just slightly longer than intended.

A perfect face, if there can be such a thing. Completely regular features and a straight nose as if copied from an ancient Greek statue; not that I recall seeing many Greek statues of a man of his size. I can’t tell their exact colour from here but even at this distance his eyes exude kindness and warmth. He looks so serious, speaking into the phone with his full, sensual lips and a thoughtful look on his face.

I let my eyes travel down over his body - he's definitely a big guy, but it’s hard to get a good look while he’s sat in the chair. I can tell however that his belly is straining ever so slightly against the white pin striped shirt he’s wearing, in fact he should probably go a size up.

The sight is delicious although I’m certain I’d prefer the shirt off altogether. The extra weight he’s carrying excites me beyond belief. He is so exactly my type, it’s unnerving. My mind instantly conjures up glimpses of him, on top of me, his broad arms cradling me as he leans in for a kiss. Oh what I could do to this man."

With a mixture of emotions swirling through her, Lizzy watched the same storm overtake Logan’s features which was brewing inside her. A veritable lightning bolt passed between them as soon as he’d touched her. She knew she’d always been attracted to Logan, but the instant heat still scalding her skin from his fingers left her unsettled. It was but a mere couple of hours prior she was trying to convince herself she could do with some sort of quickie sexual gratification, although she’d admitted it could never be with Logan, and now she wanted nothing more and the door to her emotions was wide open leaving her vulnerable and believing maybe they could have both. And just as she was trying to tell herself to stop trusting the lies her deprived body was concocting, Logan decided to try to convince her he might be interested in more as well.

Where was Logan the player and who was the imposter sitting across the table from her who could probably talk her right into his bed with one sentence or less and keep her coming back heartbreak on the horizon or not?

As her pulse slowed a bit, she turned to look at Colby and reminded herself why she couldn’t be playing horizontal Twister with anyone let alone Logan. And she sure couldn’t go letting Colby think there was a reason to get too comfortable around him. He seemed to like Logan and the Delaney herd of kids and she didn’t want him getting his feelings hurt because she couldn’t control her hormonal urges. What if she made the mistake of screwing Logan’s brains out, things didn’t work out, and that made it awkward to be coming around anymore?

TEASER
I could see her hand was reaching for the door handle which made me wonder if she actually thought she was could jump and survive.  I laughed.
“I wouldn’t try it,” I warned, shooting a look at her.
Her breathing increased and I could see the tears in her eyes.
“Don’t cry,” it came out as an order but it was really more of a plea.  “It won’t help.”
“Don’t tell me what the hell to do,” she screamed with a fury I wasn’t prepared for.  Her eyes bore into me as she braced herself against the dashboard and the headrest.  “If you think I’m just going let you touch…”
“I don’t want to touch you,” I snapped.
That made her catch her breath and her arms released their hold and crossed on her chest.  Now she actually looked like she was pouting.
“What?  I’m just supposed to want to get between your legs because there’s a hole there.  Nah.”
“Why did you grab me?”  She growled through gritted teeth like I'd just line jumped her at Target.
            “You’re hurt.”
“You’re not going toward the hospital.”
“No, I’m not.  They couldn’t help you.”
            “Why?”
“Because the poison that’s about to hit you in the next, say, five minutes, would take them hours to figure out.”
Shock crossed her face as she saw her death coming on fast.  I really didn’t care.  I’m sure my sudden desire to become a savior was only due to my fear of Gabriel’s wrath.  At least that’s what I was telling myself.

Like the beat of a primal drum whispering the rhythm of an ancient dance, the lifestyle calls…
At the seasoned age of fifty-six, Allen Bourke has resigned himself to the fact he’ll probably never find someone to top he can also love. While he’s had wives and lovers, none of them endured and he’s come to the conclusion the clock’s ticking and age is working against him. Then a very intriguing Nicki Cartwright pings on his radar at what Allen determines will be his last house party. He can’t help but notice while he and his friends are getting older, the players emerging on the scene are forever getting younger. Nicki's no exception. Determined to resist the vibes humming between them, he only agrees to service her after his old friend, Kyle Montgomery, convinces him it's entirely feasible. Then it’s brought to Allen’s attention who Nicki really is. Knowing their pasts are forever intertwined, as hard as he tries to ignore his heart, he finds himself yielding to the tides of fate.
Born to senatorial royalty, Nicki Cartwright has spent her entire life trying to shield her mother from her father’s wrath while drifting further and further into a world where panic is normal and anxiety is always on the edge of her reality. Tired of burning the candle at both ends and forever trying to live up to the picture of All-American perfection her father James Cartwright touts as his ace in the hole during election cycles, Nicki finds herself on the path of self-discovery in search of relief from the stressors continually swamping her mind. What she doesn’t expect is to find who she thought she was is truly just a shadow of the person she really is. And what scares her most is the fact Allen, the only person she thought she could trust, has been holding a secret since before she was born which could destroy her entire family.

TEASER
“What in the hell are you doing in a place like this on Christmas Eve?” Allen asked point blank.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Nicki countered.
She was clearly going to test every ounce of patience Allen had established in his thirty-some-odd years of living the life.
“Don’t you have a family? Shouldn’t you be somewhere having dinner and eggnog? Opening gifts? Eating stale fruit cake?” Determined to chip away her haughty exterior and get to the very middle of her, Allen redirected his tone a bit more to the empathetic side. Although, she had him in the same corner he’d backed her into. Waiting with as much resolve to not jerk her to her feet, bend her over the end of the couch she graced, flip the end of that teeny skirt up, and have his way with her as he could muster, he clutched the ends of the arms of the chair. “Parents? Siblings? Isn’t there anyone?”
“Yes.”
Her clipped, non-descript answer irked Allen and he gritted his teeth to keep from dressing her down. They were doing nothing more than talking at this point and he owed her the courtesy of listening. Maybe if he could pry her open far enough, she’d relinquish a bit and he could push the door further and offer what he should have two nights ago. Safe harbor. Then maybe they could get on with the nasty business of negotiating and finding out more about each other and at some point maybe his dick could take over before the real business of playing began.
“Do they live in the area?”
“No.”
“Do you?”
“Yes.”
For Christ’s sake, this would never do. It was exhausting and at this rate they’d be here until the sun rose and set again trying to get past one word answers.

Teaser

Thor, in dolphin form, was enjoying the swim until his lazy circuit was abruptly cut off by a seal pup with the temerity to snatch the herring he’d caught right out of his mouth.    Before he could even think what the fuck, the pup dove.  Thor followed, intending to grab his snack back and teach the pup a lesson about stealing from dolphins.  He saw the little thief flip half of the herring to another pup, just as a huge, dark shadow rocketed from below.  Shark!  A goddamn shark!    Thor saw red as he watched his little thief throw himself into the path of the predator to keep its sibling from certain death.   Unfortunately, the shark latched on and shook the helpless hero.  Thor backed up for more room and then accelerated at full ramming speed.  The shark released the pup from its maw as it went belly up in death.  Its sibling was circling and nudging him, but the little thief remained immobile in water stained red from the savage bite.  Thor grabbed the wounded seal gently in his mouth and headed for shore; ignoring the repeated ramming from the other pup.  He didn’t have time to explain he was trying to help, and besides, he didn’t speak seal.  He figured the other pup would follow as far as he could, and then hang around the area until he and Auric could nurse the wounded one back to health and release it.
He all but ran toward Auric the moment his feet touched the sand.  “Hurry, we need to stop the bleeding.  The pup was attacked by a shark and…”

Before he could continue a furious voice at thigh level, bellowed, “Leave me brother alone!”

Excerpt:
When her breath caught at the realization of just exactly what he had planned, Allen leaned in and kissed her again, then leisurely made his way down. He kissed her chin then nipped the underside of it before flicking a trail with his tongue down the side of her throat where he sank his teeth into the hollow of her shoulder. Coming to accept what was going to happen, Nicki seemed to let go and leaned back on her palms, affording him access to her breasts.
So pretty, leaned back, offering herself to him, handful sized breasts jutting in the air, her nipples already shrinking into hard nubs. Allen took the left one between his teeth and razed it. He looked up to see her eyes drifting shut and her lips parted, staggered breaths whispering across them. She was so responsive to his treatment of her breasts, so completely receptive to the small amount of pain he used, bringing him to question if she’d be equally responsive to different kinds of pain, pain more severe than a spanking. For some reason, the image of her splayed atop the piano on her belly, spread-eagled and strapped down came to his mind’s eye. Her back was striped in his fantasy from the caress of his short-tail.
Allen couldn’t deny he wanted more with her than to appease her daddy fantasy. He wanted much, much more and he wondered how far he’d go to get exactly what he desired.
