A Love Discovered... Steeple Town Series #giveaway

When they met, love was the last thing they were looking to discover…

Local bar owner Cali Tate has always been trendy, easy-going, and impulsive. She isn't afraid to take chances, but her carefree attitude may have put her restaurant in jeopardy. Her failing business is beginning to take a toll on her, both mentally and financially. When her best friend asks her to do a favor and take some books to the town's reclusive professor Cali welcomes the distraction. To her surprise, the sexy professor is nothing like she had pictured him.

Dr. Carter Stavros wants to be left alone. He's set in his ways and doesn't want to be bothered with the outside world. Wanting to escape the demons of his recent past, he moved to Steeple, taking a sabbatical from his teaching job to write a book. He wasn't prepared for the spunky, persistent bar owner to invade his life. But the more she pushes, the more intrigued he becomes.

Neither one of them expected to find any common ground, much less fall in love. What happens when an OCD professor collides with a risk-taking woman who won't take 'no' for an answer?

I'm excited to announce the release of A Love Discovered. If you've read A Love Stolen you've met Cali. See how the sassy bar owner discovers love with a sexy, domineering professor.

After lunch, another hour of conversation, and a long swim, Cali lounged on the chair by the pool. Her shoulder-length blonde hair dried naturally and curled at the ends. Carter watched as she closed her eyes and enjoyed the afternoon sun. Her tanned skin glistened with sunscreen and her tiny bikini was almost dry. He wondered how many hours of intense workouts created a body like hers.

"Are you admiring me again?" she asked with her eyes still closed.

"How many tattoos do you have?"

"Wouldn't you like to know?" She giggled.

"I would."

As improper as it was, he couldn't take his gaze away from her right nipple. The evidence straining against her damp bikini indicated a piercing of some sort. He'd never been more fascinated by anyone before. Throughout the years he'd seen quite a few attractive young women on campus, but he never acted on impulse when it came to students, no matter how tempting. Cali wasn't a student. She was a quirky, attractive woman who was very much in touch with her sexuality. She turned him on. He wanted to explore with her.

"Four."

He sat on the edge of the lounge chair, taking her right ankle into his hand. "Here." He outlined the small butterfly that permanently marked her skin.

"That's one." She opened her eyes when he trailed his hand up her leg and to her hip.

It had been years since he had pursued a woman. He'd gotten married when he was twenty-four and stayed faithful through the whole fourteen years of that turbulent relationship.

"Two." He swept his fingers over the pink-and-purple-colored rose petals sprinkled along her hip.

"Keep going."

He took her hand in his and examined more rose petals on the inside of her wrist. "Do they hold significance?" He traced his fingertips over the tattoo, indulging in her smooth skin beneath his touch. The way her flesh prickled in response instigated his actions.

"I like roses." She sat up, placed her legs across his lap, and leaned closer to his face. "My mother had the most beautiful rose bushes in our backyard." She pushed her hair to the side and tilted her neck. "Four."

"It's exquisite," he mumbled as he took in the ivy that started at her collarbone and flowed down the back of her shoulder blade.

"I wouldn't have pegged you for a man who likes ink on his woman."

"I'm not usually." He ran his thumb from the start of the tattoo to where it ended on her back. He wanted to feel every inch of her forbidden flesh. She shivered when he stopped. "It goes back to those boundaries you don't have."

Reaching out, she placed her palm on his cheek, directing him closer to her lips. "The question is…" She brushed her mouth against his chin. "Do you have enough for both of us?"

Excerpt...

As Trevor helped Lila up the porch steps, she wrapped her arms around his neck and brushed her lips against his jaw. She hadn’t taken her hands off him since they’d left Tate’s.

“I love to feel your stubble.” She ran her fingers along his cheek. “It’s sexy.”

“Keys?” He held out his hand and waited as she dug through her bag. She had him rock hard and ready to go. The fact that she’d rested her hand on his thigh the whole ride home hadn’t helped matters. It was the alcohol lowering her inhibitions, but that didn’t make it any easier not to respond.

“Here they are.” She dropped them into his hand. “Come inside with me.”

He opened the door and led her into the foyer. As soon as he let her go, she stumbled forward. He caught her by the waist and pulled her against him. He couldn’t take his eyes away from her lips.
“Do you want to kiss me?” Her warm breath caressed his mouth.

More than you know.

“Let me help you upstairs. I don’t want you to fall down the steps.” He scooped her up and carried her to the staircase. She was so light and dainty. She was still his perfect fit.

“You didn’t answer my question.” She placed soft, open-mouth kisses along his neck as he made his way to her old bedroom. He remembered sneaking up those steps many times, while her father slept down the hall. They still creaked, but this time he didn’t have to worry about getting caught.

“Of course I want to kiss you.” He pushed the door open with his shoulder and set her down by the bed.

She closed her eyes and leaned into him.

He swiped the hair from her face, took her chin between his fingers, and placed a chaste kiss on her lips.

She opened one eye and peered at him, waiting for more.

“That’s it?” Disappointment flooded her beautiful features.

“For tonight.” He tapped the tip of her nose with is finger. “I want you to remember when I kiss you.”

“I’ll remember.” She wrapped her arms around his neck. “You’re not easy to forget.”

He pried her arms from his body. “Believe me, I want to, but not tonight.”

“Why?”

“Because four hours ago you ran away from me,” he said. “Something made you run. Tell me why.”

He may not have wanted to take advantage of her physically while she was intoxicated, but he didn’t see why he couldn’t let her drunken lips tell him what she was afraid of.

 “I can’t.”

“You can’t what?” He needed to know what she thought about the two of them.

“I’m tired now.” She lifted her dress over her head and tossed it in the corner of the room. She stood before him in nothing but her white push-up bra and matching lace thong.

“Hell.” He couldn’t take his eyes off her toned, tanned body. He mindlessly licked his lips when he discovered her rose-colored nipples poking through the thin, silky material of her bra. Struggling with himself, he tried not to lower his gaze. He lost the battle as he greedily took in her scantily covered sex.

“Want to kiss me now?” She ran her fingers down her neck and over her breasts. “Want to touch me like this?” She moved her hand down her stomach and to the waistband of her panties.

He stepped closer to her and grabbed her wrist. He had to get her to stop or he’d lose all control.

“You want to do it?”

I'm happy to tell you that I submitted Book 2 of The Steeple Town Series to my editor on Friday night. A Love Discovered tells the story of a sassy bar owner and a very sexy, reclusive professor.

Here's a quick summary...

When her best friend asks her to do her a favor and take some books to the town’s reclusive professor she gladly accepts the distraction. Dr. Carter Stavros wants to be left alone. He’s set in his ways and doesn’t want to be bothered with the outside world so he takes a sabbatical from his teaching job to write a book. Wanting to escape the demons of his recent past, he moves to Steeple. He wasn’t prepared for the spunky, persistent bar owner to invade his life. The more she pushes, the more intrigued he becomes.

Neither one of them expected to find any common ground much less fall in love. What happens when an OCD professor collides with a risk taking woman who won’t take no for an answer?

Excerpt
"Have you decided if you're going to stay in Steeple for a bit?" Jenson asked. "We don't want you to leave."
"I don't know." Lila sipped her soda. Her stomach had been unsettled since coming back. She wanted to believe it was the funeral, but she knew better.
"You shouldn't be alone," Cali said. "We can help you clean out the house."
When Lila moved her father in with her, she'd hoped he'd one day be able to return to Steeple, so they'd left most of his belongings in the family home.
"What are you going to do with the house?" Jenson asked.
"I haven't made any plans yet." Lila sighed. "I grew up in that house. All of my memories of my parents are in there." Lila's mom had passed away when Lila was ten, but she remembered everything about her.
"That's why you should stay and take your time." Cali placed a bottle of water in front of Jenson. "We'll be here for you."
Lila nodded. It wasn't as if she had anything to go back to the city for. She'd been laid off from her teaching job, because she hadn't earned tenure, and the new teachers were always the first to go. She'd kicked around the idea of going back to school to get her doctorate. Her father had left her more than enough money to live comfortably for quite some time.
"I don't know." Lila played with the straw in her drink. "There are so many memories here."
"Screw the sheriff." Cali was always so protective of Lila, especially when it came to Trevor. "Don't let Trevor run you out of this town again."
"He didn't run me out the first time," Lila said. "I wanted to go."
There was no way she could stay and watch him marry another and raise a child.
"Bullshit." Cali wiped down the bar. "You switched schools and never looked back. You never came back to us."
"What was I supposed to do?" Lila asked. "Stay and watch him marry her? Congratulate them when the baby came?"
"You could have fought harder for him, if you really wanted to. Not that I think the pig was ever worth you." Cali had never forgiven Trevor for getting Mary Grace pregnant.
"Cali," Jenson said, "none of that matters anymore. Lila is over it."
"Sure she is." Cali knew Lila well. As much as Lila tried to forget Trevor, she'd never gotten over the love she'd lost. First love really did die hard.
"Okay, guys," Lila said. "It's been a long week and I have a headache." She couldn't deal with any more today.
"I'm sorry." Cali grabbed her hand. "You know I love you. I don't want you to run back to Boston because you're afraid to face him. I miss you, and I want you to stay. This is your home."
"Me too," Jenson said. "Stay with us."
"I'll think about it, but right now I want to head home and take a hot bath." Lila picked her bag off the bar and slipped off the stool. "Thanks for being there for me this week. I couldn't have planned everything and made it through the funeral without either of you."
"We'll always be here for you." Jenson hugged her. "I'll call you later and see if you want me to bring you dinner."
"Thanks, but I'm going to crawl into bed and sleep all night. I'm beat. I'll stop by the book store tomorrow." Lila leaned across the bar and kissed Cali's cheek. "I'll be fine."
"I know what you're capable of." Cali smiled. "You'll bounce back. You always do."
"Talk to you tomorrow."
As Lila walked toward the door, she dug into her bag for her car keys. She wasn't watching where she was going as she stepped into the entryway of the restaurant. She slammed into a hard, muscular body, dropping the keys to the floor.
"I'm so sorry."
She kneeled down to pick them up, feeling like an idiot for bumping into someone. When she stood up, she was met by a warm smile and those beautiful green eyes. He could still take her breath away.
"Hey, Lila."

Contract offer for A Love Stolen...

I love waking up to a contract offer in my in-box. Do publishers only send them out in the middle of the night? I swear I watch my email all day and nothing happens!

I'm pleased to announce that book one of my Steeple Town series has been contracted with Noble Romance. A Love Stolen is the first book in this three part series. The books revolve around the lives of best friends Lila, Cali and Jensen. Each book will follow their journey as they find love. All three novellas can be read out of order and all stand alone.

I hadn't planned on turning this into a series when I started writing A Love Stolen, but when I created the dynamics of the three friends, I decided it would be fun to revisit each of them while featuring the individual stories.

A Love Stolen is Lila and Trevor's story...

Lila Crofton flees the town of Steeple when she learns of her boyfriend Trevor Matheson's betrayal.  Trevor's one night stand proves to be too much for the young lovers. Lila won't stick around and watch the only man she's ever loved move on with another. She heads to the city and starts over.
Six years later, recently divorced Sheriff Trevor Matheson is picking up the pieces of his life. When his high school sweetheart Lila returns to Steeple to bury her father, Trevor sees it as a sign. He's getting over a failed marriage and she's grieving the loss of her dad. They need one another. The timing couldn't be more perfect.
Can the two overcome the ghosts of their past and rekindle a love lost. Is there a second chance in their future or is their stolen love gone forever?

The Steeple Town Series

I've been quiet for a few days, well in front of the camera, anyway, but behind the scenes I've been my normal busy self.

I just completed the final read through on Crossfire of Love. My contemporary, erotic romance is set to release on March 19, 2012. We're almost there!

I've also turned in book one of my very first series. Why a series? As a reader, I enjoy  them, but as a writer, I had never really given it much thought. Even when I started the first book, A Love Stolen, I didn't necessarily see it as a series until I realized the three female friends in the book all needed to find love. I wanted to tell their stories.

The three novellas take place in the fictional town of Steeple, Mass. The reader gets a peek into the lives of three best friends (Lila, Cali and Jenson) who are all very different in personality,
but are always there for one another.

The thing I enjoyed about creating these stories was the fact that as I move from story to story, I get to revisit the couples I've developed. As a reader, you are focusing on one story at a time, but you're able to see what the women are doing at that particular point in time. The books can be read out of order as they all stand alone, but they clearly connect to one another.

In A Love Stolen, we meet Lila and Trevor. Their beginning started out somewhat tragic and Lila ends up leaving Steeple. Six years later she returns to her hometown, her friends and Trevor. Can they find a way to rekindle their flame or where they nothing more than high school sweethearts?

Hopefully I'll have some news to share on this novella real soon;)

I'm halfway through book two and I've outlined book three.

A Love Discovered is Cali's story. Cali is the wild child of the group, but can an older, reclusive professor tame her?

A Love Unexpected is Jenson's story. She's the straight-laced girl of the trio, but what happens when she agrees to a one-night stand?

So, there we are. Three novellas, three women and three different stories. I hope you'll get lost in my words and identify with these girls as they find their HEA.

Stay tuned for details...
