Meet my hero... Cameron Avis

Passion's Pain...

 

 

Last week I introduced you to Jackson Avis, the antagonist in my upcoming novel. As sexy and hot as he is, he just isn't the right man for Lilli. But as I said in my last post, Jackson plays a vital role in this story. If not for him, Lilli might still be trying to find herself. Jackson doesn't fully understand what he has in Lilli. And because of that, he pushes the object of his desire into the arms of the last man he would think to betray him...

 Meet Jackson's son Cameron, an aspiring doctor who has some issues with his father. Cameron wanted to go to Julliard and pursue his love of music. His father would hear none of it and forced Cam's hand into attending Harvard to become a doctor. Cameron may have been able to forgive Jack's control issues in the past, but not when it comes to Lilli. Cam's feelings for Lilli started out as friendship, but the more he gets to know the stunning woman who lives in his father's house, the more he wants her for himself. Lilli would never betray Jack, but Cameron needs her to see the manipulator his dad really is before its too late.

As soon as Cameron entered the room, he stopped, embarrassed about what he’d walked in on. He definitely wasn’t expecting to catch his father in the middle of a make out session.

“Oh, I didn’t mean to interrupt,” he said in a low voice as his gaze landed on Lilli’s face. He'd recognized her immediately, but he didn’t get what she’d be doing in his father’s study, much less his arms.

“No.” Jack cleared his throat as he released Lilli from his hold. “It’s fine, Cameron. I’d like you to meet—”

“Lilli, isn’t it?” Cameron said before his father could introduce them. He didn't need an introduction.

“Um, yes.” She looked lost and afraid.

Cameron continued to stare at her wondering what she was doing here. His father had been seeing someone new for the past few weeks, but this couldn’t be her. There was no way the girl he’d fantasized about in high school was his father’s new girlfriend.

“Cam.” Jack stood up. “Lilli will be staying here from now on.”

“Really? How come?” He wondered if his father had lost his mind.

“Because I want her to and I hope you’ll make her feel at home.”

“How have you been?” Lilli asked.

“Since high school?” He laughed. “I’m good, and you?”

“Good,” she spoke in a low, shaky voice. Right now, she looked anything but fine.

She was just as shy and unsure as he’d remembered. She kept to herself in high school, often sitting in a corner with her head buried in a book. He wondered how the hell she ended up here.
