Find Me... my latest WIP

I've been in the cave since New Years Day. I've managed to get almost 50k down in 2013. Not too shabby.

What have I been doing? Working on my next book. Find Me is a sensual paranormal story of witches, warlocks and time travel. I know... I can hardly believe it myself. Paranormal? Sensual? Who wrote this thing? Surely not Ella Jade.

I stepped out of my comfort zone for this one. I wanted to push myself this year and Find Me is what I came up with. Now I have a 55k novel and I don't know what to do with it. It's not erotic enough for my usual publishers. I know I can always go back and steam up those sexy scenes if I have to, but for now I'd like to keep it as is. When I started writing this one I knew right out of the gate that it was going to be tamer than what I'm used to writing. The story dicated the tone and I followed. This one focuses on the developing love story and the obstacles my witch and her warlock from the past have to face.

Here's the working blurb...

A love that transcends time…
Riley Sparrow dreams of a handsome, intriguing stranger who comes to her on her 25th birthday. Each night the dreams get more intense when her night time guest leaves her clues as to his whereabouts. The dream always ends in a whisper…
Find Me…
She has denied her birthright her entire life. She descends from a strong line of witches and warlocks, but has refused her powers up until now. Will her estranged grandfather help her travel back in time to save the man she believes she's meant to be with?
If she finds him, can she save him from the evil that haunts them both? By securing his past, she knows there can never be a future for them in her time.

This has been a fun ride but I have had to write myself out of several plot holes I created. The story is complicated but I think I have it all worked out now. Of course, I keep reading and tweaking.

Here's peek at the opening chapter...

Chapter One
The mystery man moved his hand to Riley’s cheek, gently stroking her face before leaning closer to her. The warmth of his breath caressed her lips. Moving his other hand to her hair, he slipped the band that secured her ponytail and set free her long dark locks. Tangling his fingers in her tresses, he guided her mouth to his lips. The prickle from the stubble on his jaw brushed her cheek as he placed a soft kiss at the corner of mouth just below her bottom lip. His signature…
Her stomach fluttered from the contact. When he drew his mouth away from hers, she craved more. Staring into his green depths, she tried to memorize every feature of his face right down to the tiny mole just below his left earlobe. There was something familiar about the stranger who began visiting her a few nights ago.
“Find me,” he whispered just before fading away.
The sound of Riley’s cell phone jolted her into a seated position. She looked around searching for the man with the stunning green eyes. Why did he always leave so abruptly?
A dream.

Now I need to figure out what to do with this puppy. Any thoughts?

Have a great weekend.

  1. Sounds Great Ella. Have you had a look at Harlequin's new digital first line? They're open to all kind of stories and the wait isn't as painful as it is with some of their other lines.
