Meet the Author... Karyn Gerrard

Today I'm pleased to introduce author Karyn Gerrard.

***

Living in a small town in a corner of Ontario, Canada, I wile away my spare time writing, reviewing and reading romance. As long as I can avoid being hit by a runaway moose here in this wilderness paradise, I assume everything is golden. Originally from the east coast of Canada, I love to set my stories in the Maritime Provinces~
Happily married for a long time to my own hero, a teacher that braves everything that is thrown at him. His encouragement keeps me moving forward.

When did you know you were a writer? Was it always your destiny or did you stumble upon your craft by accident?
I knew I was a writer when I received my first contract offer this past March. I always had a vivid imagination. I was the 12 year old girl at Girl Guide (Scout in US) camp telling horror stories off the cuff around the campfire. I love to plot. I did a lot of writing in my teens and early twenties then got away from it. Only starting writing again in the last three years.
What is your favorite genre to write and why?
So far I am writing all different genres. Historical is my first love. I consider myself an erotic romance writer, not erotica. Not yet anyway.
How did you get into eBook publishing?
If it wasn't for my husband, I never would have submitted. He kept telling me the story was good. Imagine my shock when my time travel novella was accepted in 24 hours. That was in March, now I have two more books coming out and have more to submit. I am still in shock. It has been a whirlwind, learned a lot along the way as well.
How many hours a day do you devote to writing? Do you have a set routine or do you write when the mood strikes?
I write when the mood strikes, during the day mostly. I am lucky I no longer have to work so my afternoons are my own. I pretty much stay off the computer on the weekends, I should devote some time to my hubs~
Has there been a person or influence in your life that has helped you reach your writing goals?
I would say my hubby, my hero. He is a school teacher and is patiently trying to help me with my grammar/punctuation bumps in the road. He also listens to my plotting ideas and even allows me to read aloud to him. It certainly becomes fun when we get to the hot scenes.
Do you have any words of inspiration to aspiring authors? What advice would you offer a writer trying to publish?
Never give up. Keep submitting, don't take rejections personally. Don't edit the same chapter over and over, keep plugging forward until you type 'the end', then go back and edit. Write what you love, not what you think will sell.

Tell us about your current releases.
BLACK LUST is a paranormal novella erotic romance with Evernight Publishing, release date Nov 18th
CHRISTMAS MEMORIES is a contemporary Xmas short story with Silver Publishing, release date is December 18th.

Lucius Black lives a debauched and wild nightlife. Being a ‘Quarter’ (1/4 vampire), blood and sex are what he is. However, his existence wears thin after a century of hedonistic pleasure.

Trevina Patterson lives a quiet, happy life running a hair salon in a village on the east coast of the United Kingdom. It was a perfect life and all she could ask for, until a chance encounter with Lucius Black.
What was it about him that was so unsettling and yet so attractive?

For Lucius, no woman had ever been enough, until Trevina. She awakened in him feelings he had not thought possible. Passions considered by him to be little more than vampiric mythology. She awakened his...black lust.

Do you have any upcoming projects in the works?
I just finished a sequel to my time travel, and the second book in my paranormal series. Now to get them edited and submitted!
