Read an Excerpt:

I got out of my car and looked around, making sure no one noticed me, and slipped into the building. When I reached the condo, I pulled out my keys to unlock the door. I was stunned to hear music coming from the bedroom. Was he early? On our bedroom door, I found a note.

My Sweet Carmelita,

Happy six months, darling. I won't be long, make yourself comfortable and I will be by your side soon. I love you.

Dylan

I slowly opened the door and was blown away by what I found. My eyes scanned the room trying to take it all in. There was champagne chilling, romantic music playing, and candles aglow everywhere. It took my breath away and my heart melted. If it was possible, I fell deeper in love with Dylan.

I went over to the closet to find something sexy to wear. I found one of his shirts, picked it up and brought it to my nose, inhaling his scent of cedar and musk. I shed my clothes, then slipped the shirt on. I wrapped my arms around myself and took a deep breath. I couldn't believe we had been together for six months.

I grabbed a glass of champagne, walked over to bed, and made myself comfortable. I thought back over the last six months with Dylan and how he had changed me. He brought me out of my self-imposed shell. I felt beautiful, adored and sexy again. He made me laugh and challenge myself, but most of all I knew he loved me.

I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't hear him come in. I looked up and there he was, my white knight, leaning in the entry way, staring at me.

"Dylan," I screeched while sitting up. “You scared the hell out of me.”

"I’m sorry, baby. I didn’t mean to startle you. I just wanted to watch you. You take my breath away; you're so sexy and beautiful,” he said in a deep, husky voice as he walked towards me. Before I knew it, his warm, wet lips were on mine, kissing me passionately until I was flat on my back.

"I need you so bad, baby. You're so sexy in my shirt, but it has to go.”

"I need you too. Take me...please!"

SORM excerpt
She re-read her edits and was about to make a phone call to Colleen when she heard the doorbell. She walked to the front door and looked out the window to find a delivery man holding a long, white box. Her heart swelled and skipped a beat as she opened the door. Hudson used this florist.
“Good afternoon, Mrs. Smyth. These are for you. Sign here.”
She smiled and signed for the flowers. “Thank you.”
“Have a good day.”
“You too,” she replied.
With a huge smile on her face she opened the box and placed the flowers in her favorite crystal vase on the island right next to the laptop. She quickly called Colleen and made plans to meet her on Monday to finalize the movie deal. Alex was on cloud nine. She opened a new document and started writing what she hoped would be her next novel. She’d been working for a good hour when she heard the garage door open and Hudson’s car pull in. She looked at the time, it was only a little after three. Her heart soared as she heard the back door open. She looked up and there he stood with a bottle of wine in his hand.
“I see you received the flowers.”
“Thank you,” she replied as she walked slowly toward him.
You could almost feel the electricity in the air between them, they were like two ends of a magnet searching for the connection they desperately needed. Hudson placed his briefcase and the bottle of wine on the table. She was finally in his arms and their lips met.
Alex squealed as Hudson took a few steps and she found her back up against the wall. Alex was desperate for him, their hands and lips were all over each other.
“Alex, God.” Hudson moaned when she undid his pants.
They wasted no time undressing each other. Alex wrapped her legs around his waist and moaned as he eased into her. He started out slowly, as if wanting to savor the reconnection, but soon the passion swept over them and he took her fast and hard against the kitchen wall.
Alex lay sated in Hudson’s arms on the kitchen floor as they tried to catch their breaths.
“I’m so sorry about last night.”
“You’re forgiven,” Alex replied before she kissed his chest. “But I’m at fault also, it takes two to fight.”
“I started it.”
She let out a laugh.
“What’s so funny?”
“I just realized that we’re lying on the kitchen floor naked in the middle of the afternoon.”
“Well, maybe we should take this to a more appropriate room.”
“Like where, the dining room?” Alex teased.
Hudson laughed and stood up. “I prefer the soft bed over the hard table.”
Alex smiled as he held out his hand to her. He helped her up and they made their way to the bedroom, where they spent the rest of the day reconnecting.

EXCERPT FROM Instant Attraction

We walked out of the restaurant and down the hall into the main lobby of the hotel, my eyes scanning for any photographers. I really didn't want my face all over the tabloids tomorrow.

"I had a great time meeting you today. So, what now?" Slade asked as he looked deep into my eyes.

"I don't know," I whispered. I didn't want the afternoon to end.

"I don't want to leave you just yet, Jewel," he whispered in a sexy tone.

I bit my bottom lip and started to fidget. "Then don't." I took a deep breath, trying to figure out everything that was racing through my head. "Would you like to come to my suite for a drink, maybe?" I couldn't believe I'd just asked him that, but I knew what I wanted, and at the moment it was him.

"I thought you'd never ask."

We stepped in the elevator and the doors closed. We were alone. Before I could process what I was doing I was kissing him. The simple kiss set all the nerves in my body on fire. The elevator stopped and I pulled away as the doors opened.

"This is my floor," I said breathlessly.

We walked into the hallway in silence. The tension between us was so strong. We reached my suite and I swiped my card to open the door. I could feel his gaze on me, it was making me nervous and turning me on at the same time. My stomach was in knots as I walked in, but not the bad kind of knots, the I-want-to-jump-him kind of knots. He was making me crazy. I truly just wanted to go with what I was feeling. I was so attracted to him. As soon as the door shut Slade pushed me against the wall and started kissing me.

"Jewel, you are so alluring," he said as he kissed my neck.

"Slade," I moaned. I could feel how hard he was as he pressed harder into me.

"I want you," he said as his hand grazed my breast. "Do you want me?"

"Yes!" My heart was pounding in my chest as I led him to the bed. His urgent lips were on mine. He unzipped my sundress and it fell to the floor, leaving me in only a black lace bra and thong.

"So sexy," he whispered in my ear as he kissed my neck.

Justice Jackson P.I.... Free Read

Genre: Romance

Sultry waitress Andrea Bloome serves cocktails at The Lounge, the hottest jazz club in Chicago. When her life is in danger, she turns to charismatic P.I. Justice Jackson for help.

Can he save her from the people who are meant to protect her? Or will he be blinded by the overwhelming attraction between them?

Set in the 1940's.

This is a free short story.

~Excerpt~

"Please try and relax, Ms. Bloome.” I handed her the martini.

"Call me Andrea," she replied in a timid tone.

I smiled. "Well, Andrea, you can call me Justice.”

"Justice, do you always bring your work home?" she asked.

I laughed. "No, but I don't want anything to happen to you. I feel this deep need to protect you."

She looked frightened. "Won't helping me put you in danger?"

"I'm a P.I., my life is always in danger.”

She pondered what I said.

Her hazel eyes met mine. I felt frozen. Her timid but inquiring voice brought me back to the present. “Why did you choose to become a P.I.?”

“What else was I going to do with a name like Justice Jackson?”

She let out a giggle and a look of concerned quickly crossed her face.

“What’s going to happen when I don’t show up for work tonight?” she asked in a shaky voice.

“They’ll most likely go looking for you. That’s why you’re here safe with me. I promise I won’t let anything happen to you.”

“Justice, this could be very dangerous for you.”

“It may be, but I'm just careful and trust very few people." I answered in a comforting tone . I didn't want her to worry about me.

"How do you know you can trust me?" she asked full of curiosity.

"Are you concealing a weapon, Ms. Bloome?" I raised an eyebrow at her. I wanted to lighten the mood. She took a deep breath, her body relaxing. She smiled and stepped closer to me.

"I may be. Do you want to frisk me?" she replied jokingly.

Our eyes met and the earth moved around me. I was taken by her. I needed to concentrate on saving her life, not her amazing lips. Oh, did I mention her incredible legs that seemed to be a mile long even though she may have been all of five foot three? So, yes, Ms. Bloome, I do want to frisk you. Needing to put some distance between us and focus on the issue at hand, I pushed away my attraction to her and cleared my throat. "Please excuse me. I need to call my sister Julia. She is about your size and she can get you the things you need. Please make yourself at home."

Phantom Lover

Genre: Erotic Romance

Can true love surpass life and death?

Olivia Shaw-Clayton’s life revolves around her job ever since her husband was killed eight months ago in Iraq. She slaves away at her desk in hopes of numbing the pain of her loss and the guilt of longing to fall asleep once again to be joined by her phantom lover.

~Excerpt~

Olivia waited for her friends at Vipers after work, when in walked the most gorgeous man that she’d ever seen wearing an Army uniform. He was tall and built like a god. She watched as he took off his coat and placed it over his shoulder.  She licked her lips at the sight of him in a t-shirt.  His huge arms were covered in tattoos. She was staring, but couldn’t tear her eyes off of him. Finally, she turned away and took a sip of her almost empty drink. When she looked up again, she found the most amazing hazel eyes gazing at her. She thought her heart was going to stop right there. He smiled and began to walk toward her.

Hello, my name is Aaron Clayton and I was wondering if you’d do me the honor of having a drink with me?” He extended his hand.

Olivia bit her lower lip and took his hand in hers. He smelled just as good as he looked. It was a mix of amber, musk, and spice.

Hi,” she finally sputtered out as he brought the top of her hand toward his mouth. She cleared her throat. “My name is Olivia.”

Nice to meet you, Olivia.” His smoldering eyes never left hers as he placed a gentle kiss on top of her hand.

Her heart fluttered and a warm jolt rushed through her. A feeling she’d never had before. All her senses seemed at that moment to be on fire. All she could think, smell or breathe was this stranger that stood in front of her. She cleared her throat again, in hopes of snapping herself out of the trance she was in. “I’m meeting my friends, but I’m early, so a drink sounds great.”

He smiled. “My friends are in the back playing pool, but they can wait.” He winked. “What are you drinking?”

Gin and tonic, please.”

He leaned toward her and whispered in her ear, “I’ll be right back.”

A shiver went down her spine and her stomach fluttered as she watched him walk toward the bar. By God his ass is fine! Her mind swirled with all the things she would like to do to that body. Get a grip, Olivia. You just met him and you already want to jump his bones. Olivia glanced looked around the bar and noticed that most of the girls’ eyes were on Aaron. Jealousy spiked through her veins but at the same time she felt a little smug that he'd walked up to her. Now all she needed to do was figure out how to get to know him better. If she had her way she would be underneath him by the end of the night.

Here you go,” he said as he handed her a drink. “So, Olivia, tell me about yourself?

She quickly glanced around at all the other females glaring at her and a large smirk crossed her lips. Ladies, eat your heart out! He’s talking to me. She quickly focused her attention on the god in front her, smiling at her with the sexiest dimples she’d ever seen, and she melted.

Queen of His Heart and Southern Embrace...

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Queen of His Heart by Lena Hart

Judith Bell is comfortable with her quiet, predictable life. After a failed relationship left her emotionally—and physically— scarred, she tries her hardest to ignore Carlos Moreno’s advances. But the sexy, dark-eyed security chief is proving very hard to ignore. When fear and blackmail drives her to compromise her new position at Royal Courts, Judith’s serene life is once again disrupted.

Carlos is captivated by his boss’ assistant. Beyond her beauty is a sweet, gentle woman needing desperately to be loved. But when an internal investigation points to her, he realizes Judith may not be the innocent she appears. Left wondering if he’s been duped by a pretty face and bewitching smile, Carlos finds himself torn between his obligations to Royal Courts or protecting the woman who’s already stolen his heart.

On the run from her past and forced into hiding, Judith is faced with two choices—either let fear define her future or allow love to heal her wounded heart.

~Excerpt~

“Are you okay, muñeca?” he asked slowly.

She stared up at him, overwhelmed with despair. No, not really. The worry in his eyes was enough to have the lump return, but this time from profound guilt instead of panic.

Could she trust him?

It wasn’t worth the risk so instead she took a deep breath and simply nodded as she tried to formulate her thoughts and put them into coherent words this time.

“Yes, I’m fine,” Judith assured him with a wide smile. “I just…I got so busy today, I missed lunch and now can’t seem to think straight.”

At least that wasn’t a complete lie. There was no food in her stomach and no rational thought left in her brain—not enough anyway to have kept her fear at bay and stop her from making the biggest mistake of her life.

“You need to take better care of yourself,” Carlos said, concern still clouding his eyes. “Don’t let Carrone work you to the ground.”

Despite herself, she was warmed by the gentle reprimand. He cared.

“I’m fine, really. I just need to grab a few things, then I’m heading out soon.” She turned the door knob of the supply room as she spoke and to her dismay, found it locked. Glancing over at Carlos, she let out a weak laugh.

“I guess they’ve started locking these after hours,” she muttered, though it was something she wouldn’t know. In her three months at Royal Courts, she’d only been there once or twice.

With a grin, Carlos pulled out a set of keys. “The perks of working in security,” he said, quickly unlocking the door.

He pushed it open and she walked past him inside. Following her into the small, dim room, Carlos let the door closed behind him with a finality that was jarring.

Judith ended her quick search for the light switch and resigned herself to using the downlighting to navigate through the room. Rows of tall shelves lined the small space and she walked through the nearest one, looking for something suitable to carry out of there. But being isolated in the dark room with Carlos Moreno wasn’t helping matters.

“What are you looking for?” he asked, coming up behind her. “Maybe I can help.”

Her eyes fell on a stack of notepads and she reached for them. “Uh, I think I found it,” she said quickly.

Unfortunately, she missed the box of envelopes that were stacked right above them. When she jerked on the pack, they all threatened to come down on her head.

“Careful,” Carlos said sharply, reaching over her to catch the items.

He shoved the bundle of papers back into position and the action brought him firmly against her. His warm, well-muscled chest pressed solidly along her back. She wanted nothing more than to lean against him, to have him wrap his strong arms around her and hold her close.

“Nothing got you, did it?”

She shook her head, her face heating, grateful he’d saved her from that embarrassing mishap—and that he wasn’t a mind reader.

“No, I’m fine.”

She turned around, but he didn’t step back. They both stood there looking at each other. There was no way she could hide her attraction to him now. Not when he looked at her like that.

Stark desire blazed in his deep, penetrating eyes, but there was also a tenderness and affection in them that made something in her belly flutter.

He reached out and brushed his thumb slowly across her cheek. “What’s a good girl like you doing in a dirty mind like mine?”

Judith glanced away from his intense gaze. He’d obviously intended for it to be a joke, but with what she’d just done not too long ago, coupled with the slow throbbing between her legs just from his light touch, he was far from the truth.

She was no good girl.

~Excerpt~

It was a beautiful Friday afternoon. Van grabbed her purse and headed out to the mall. Nikki's shower was the following weekend, and Nikki had been on her to get a new dress for days, threatening to drag her shopping kicking and screaming if she didn't go herself.

Once at the mall, Van picked up some last minute gifts for Nikki. After trying on a few dresses, she found a knee-length, strapless coral dress. She purchased it and was off in search of a pair of shoes. When she found the perfect pair of coral and silver heels, Van concluded the trip to the mall a complete success.

Her cellphone rang as she was leaving the shoe store. She dug around in her bag to find it. With her head down and her steps brisk, she ran right into someone.

"I'm so sorry. I'm such a klutz," she said as she looked up into the brown eyes of her first love. She gasped and took a step back, surveying him. His light brown hair was a little shorter and he was built like a man now, not the boy she used to know. She stood frozen in place, staring at him. This can't be happening. A tidal wave of emotions rushed through her at once. Anger, resentment, hatred, but mainly pain…so much pain.

"Van."

"Lance? Oh my God!" She took another step back. "How?"

"I-I talked to Nikki. She told me you would be here. I needed to see you. When I heard what happened…" He paused. "I knew I couldn't stay away any longer. I'm so sorry."

The more he talked, the more Van's anger flared. Who does he think he is? He left me! Turned his back on me when he cut all ties!

"What exactly are you sorry for, Lance? That my husband died or that you broke my heart all those years ago?" The words she spoke were full of acid. "You have a lot of nerve just showing up here like nothing ever happened. Go away." She turned to leave.

"Please, Van, just talk to me. Give me a chance to explain," he begged as he reached for her hand.

"Don't you dare touch me," she said through gritted teeth, yanking her hand away. "What do you want from me?" She stared at him while plotting all the ways she was going to torture Nikki for her betrayal.

She seethed as he looked around. "Calm down, Van. People are starting to stare. Please, can we go somewhere more private and talk? There is so much I need to tell you."

"What could you possibly have to say to me that would make up for what you did? I mean, I know you had to move, but you cut all ties with me. Like the three years we spent together meant nothing to you, like I meant nothing to you. Damn you, Lance, you didn't even try to make it work."

"Please, Savannah. Give me a chance to explain."

"Give me one reason why I should."

"Because I still love you. I. Never. Stopped. I cut all ties with you because I had to. Long distance relationships never work out. I was afraid you would wake up one day and resent me. Being apart from you was killing me. I thought this way we would both be able to move on. But I was wrong, I never was able to move on. I let the love I have for you consume me. I wanted to come back sooner, but then I heard you'd gotten married. When I found out what had happened, I wanted to rush here and be by your side, but I figured you would need some time."

His words shocked and confused her. After she took a few moments to process everything, she shook her head. "I can't do this." She turned and walked away, then stopped. "Go back to wherever it was you came from and leave me alone."

"I won't give up on you. I won't stop trying, and I most definitely won't ever leave you again."

"Just go away, Lance. You're good at that," she snarled before she walked away. She didn't dare turn around because looking at him as he begged her to give him a chance to explain would certainly weaken her. Van needed to focus on how she was going to kill her so-called best friend.

“You bitch, you killed her,” Vinny growled at me in a throaty half-whisper. He seized my cringing shoulders and barricaded me beside his dead wife’s hospital bed. His vise-like fingers were wrapped around my neck. I gasped for air as he crushed my throat.

Aiming to break free, I kneed my elderly attacker in the groin. My retaliation was short-lived as he pummeled my head into the wallboard. I was a bobble-head, and unless someone came to the rescue fast, I’d be a dead bobble-head. I poked at Vinny’s pinprick eyes, and he slapped my hands away. He grabbed the call button cord and lassoed my neck.

In sync with my desperation, the patient in the next bed shrieked with a fury capable of waking Vinny’s wife from her permanent slumber. “Security to room 306, security to room 306,” blasted over Honore Hospital’s P-A system.

A pencil-thin man in a white coat stormed in, wielding a dangling stethoscope. My on-call champion struggled to loosen the improvised garrote. Crotchety Vinny began punching with the strength of a super villain. He landed more than a few left jabs on my nose and cheek.

Within seconds, a stranger charged in and snagged Vinny off of me. Crumbling against a hobbling nightstand, I squinted at my Herculean hero from the floor up. His ankle boots yielded to black biker jeans that hugged his powerhouse thighs and hips as if he were born in them. Beneath his open suede jacket, a muscle shirt clung to his bench-pressed pecs. A baseball cap with ‘Savage’ embroidered across the crown rested on his dark chocolate hair that curled around his ears.

Savage seemed to fit as a nickname; his five o’clock shadow hinted he was bad-boy sumptuous. The right side of his neck sported a quarter-sized, port-wine birthmark, partially hidden by his jawbone. Overlooking the meager imperfection, I zeroed in on his heavy-lidded eyes piercing Vinny with laser precision. I sensed my rescuer had witnessed more than most men experience in a lifetime. Savage attentively handed Vinny over to the security guards. Without saying a word, he eased me up, his big-knuckled hands firmly around my waist. I slumped against his chest and savored the natural scent of his skin. He pressed the back of my skull to ease the bloodletting. Only then did I realize the attack had seriously screwed with my head. I should’ve been panicked about bleeding out, but instead was infatuated with this maverick who rescued me without hesitation.

Obsession

Is there anywhere safe when you're the object of someone's obsession?

Alexandria Stevens is a New York Times best-selling romance novelist. After she makes a guest appearance on a popular TV talk show, she creates a Twitter account. Within a few short weeks she meets a fan, and they become fast friends…or that's what Alex thinks. When Alex finds herself being stalked, the person she least suspects is her new friend Jillian. What she doesn't know is that Jillian has been obsessed with her for years. She wants everything Alex has, even her husband.

Content Warning: sexual situations, adult language, violence

~Excerpt~

Alex went into her study to answer some emails and go over the script for her movie again when the doorbell rang. Knowing Hudson was on a conference call, she went to answer it. She looked out the window to find a deliveryman with a long, white box. Her heart melted, Hudson had flowers delivered for her. He was always so romantic and thoughtful. God, she loved him.

Alex opened the door and signed for the flowers. As she took them to the kitchen to place them in a vase, her mind wandered to all the ways she could thank Hudson properly after his conference call was over. Her favorite one involved her being down on her knees. Alex couldn’t wait to see and smell the beautiful flowers. Giggling, she untied the ribbon and anxiously lifted the lid.

She screamed and dropped the box. It was filled with a dozen black roses, a purple plastic butterfly attached to one stem. Fear rocked through her body as she remembered the note left on her car. Like a butterfly, a wild butterfly. I will collect you and capture you. Alex fell to the floor and wrapped her arms around herself.

“Alex, oh my God. Are you okay? What happened?” Hudson asked as he placed his arms around her trembling body.

She pointed to the black roses. “I thought you sent me flowers,” she stuttered in between her sobs.

Hudson looked at the roses with confusion, then Alex pointed to the butterfly and told him about the note she’d found on her car and how Colleen said it was nothing, probably a sick prank.

“You should’ve told me, baby. I’m calling your father, this isn’t just a prank.” Hudson dialed Anthony, Alex’s father and a police detective. Hudson held her tight and assured her that he wouldn’t let anything happen to her and they would find out what was going on.

Anthony was at his daughter’s side within fifteen minutes with two policemen in tow. He asked a few questions and took the flowers for evidence. Alex just clung to Hudson as her father lectured her for not telling anyone about the note that had been left on her car. He was upset that the note had been destroyed, because there could’ve been forensic evidence on it that would help them figure out who was doing this.

Alex looked into her father’s eyes, he looked both angry and conflicted. She knew this had to be hard on him. He had to be both her father and the detective on the case. He assured them he would try and keep a lid on it for as long as possible. Alex let out a moan knowing what would happen if the media found out about it.

Hudson asked Anthony about the possibility of the police providing some sort of security for Alex. She objected, saying she didn’t want to be babysat. Her father quickly dismissed her objection, stating it was a good idea and he would arrange regular patrols of the street. He swore to her that he would catch the psycho who was stalking her. He hugged her before he left, which took Alex by surprise because he never showed emotion.

When everyone was finally gone, Hudson got Alex some water and two sleeping pills. Soon she was in bed wrapped in Hudson’s arms. Although she was both emotionally and physically exhausted, she felt safe next to him. She sighed and snuggled as close to his warm body as she could as she wiped away a tear and drifted off to sleep.

Alex woke to her cellphone ringing over and over again. Who the hell keeps calling? She moaned as she grabbed her phone from the bedside table. When she looked at the screen and saw who the caller was, she rolled her eyes.

“Mom?”

“Oh my God, Alexandria, are you okay? Why do I have to find out from the media that someone is stalking my daughter?”

Alex just let her mother rant—no good would come out of trying to stop her and explain things until she had it all out of her system.

“And a movie deal? Why am I the last to know everything? Well, I’m waiting.”

“I’m sorry, Mom. I was going to call you today. Things have been a bit crazy. What do you mean you heard it from the media?”

“It’s all over the entertainment news.”

“Christ!” Alex took a deep breath. She needed to focus and find out what was being said. “Mom, I have to go. I promise I’ll call you later and fill you in on everything. I need to find out exactly what has been leaked.”
