Meet The Author...Stacy Eaton

If you have a thing for sexy crime dramas that may include a suspenseful flair...you might want to read this. I'm intrigued.

Please help me welcome author Stacy Eaton this Monday morning...

What motivates Stacy Eaton the author? Why do you write?

The stories that come to mind – the lessons I have learned – the people I have met – that is what motivates me to write. Throughout my life I have seen so much, and I use much off that to add dimension to my books.
When did you know you were a writer? Was it always your destiny or did you stumble upon your craft by accident?
For years people told me I was creative, that I should write a book, but I always laughed at them. In October of 2010, while I was at work one dark late night, a thought came to mind and I found myself talking to myself as I drove around patrolling my township. When I got home – I sat down and started writing. Nine weeks later, My Blood Runs Blue was written. It just happened and as soon as that one was done, the next one came right behind it without any trouble. As I finished that one, two more came to mind and then a third.  Once I let the writer in me come out, it just took over!
What is your favorite genre to write and why?
Wow… I have a lot of favorite genres, but I find I lean more to the paranormal and suspense.  I love crime novels too, but I think no matter what I read, I need to see some type of romance in it.  The romance part of it makes the book for me.
How did you get into eBook publishing?
While I was writing My Blood Runs Blue, I started to do some research into how to actually publish a book.  I had no idea what you did.  Did you have to go with a publishing company? Did you have to have an agent? This was all new to me.  While doing my research I came across a company called Outskirts Press, Inc.  They help people to self-publish their books.  I signed on, and they walked me through the steps one at a time.  The second book in the series, Blue Blood for Life is also being published by them.  In the future, books that aren’t part of this series, I might look at publishing a different way. I’m still undecided on that.
How many hours a day do you devote to writing? Do you have a set routine or do you write when the mood strikes?
Some days I will write for 8-10 hours.  If I get into the grove – I write until my shoulders and neck are killing me.  Until my fingers are numb.  Other days, I will write a chapter or two.  A lot of it depends on the amount of time I have to devote to it. Since I work full-time and have a family, there are days that I don’t get any done at all.  I do find that I can get much more accomplished when I get up early in the morning when the house is quiet and get moving.  Otherwise, I put in my earbuds and crank up my music and fall into the zone.
Tell us about the most intriguing character you've created.
Officer Kristin Greene – the main character in the series.  She is a police officer with a compassion for people and has to learn how to deal with her controlling nature.  She is a strong woman who fights for what she believes in, yet has to put what she wants on the back burner many times because of the circumstances around her.  I think a lot of people can relate to her and find her intriguing.
Has there been a person or influence in your life that has helped you reach your writing goals?
Just about everyone in my life has influenced me – good and bad.  In regards to writing, I have to say it is really my own desire to do my best and give something to others.
Do you have any words of inspiration to aspiring authors? What advice would you offer a writer trying to publish?
I tell people who are thinking of writing a book to put it on paper.  Just sit down and do it.  Put those thoughts and those stories down in black and white. Then get people to read it, and be ready for their input – whether that is good or bad.  You have to be able to accept criticism and sometimes it is hard to take. You have to be willing to take the good with the bad, and if you are hearing the same negative things from people, then you need to sit back and think hard about what it is you are writing and how you can make it appeal to those people or how to fix what people are telling you.  It’s a long hard process, but if you are willing to listen to others, you’ll get there.
Tell us about your current release.
My Current series is called “My Blood Runs Blue”.  The first book in the series was published in April of 2011.  The second book is entitled, Blue Blood for Life and it has just been published.  There are more books to come in this series, I’m not entirely sure how many more, but at least one or two.  I need to see where the characters lead me.

My Blood Runs Blue, book 1: Officer Kristin Greene has always felt that something was missing from her life. Although her job with the Fawn Hollow Township Police Department keeps her busy, she still feels like there is something else out there for her.

She soon finds herself investigating a homicide where a young woman has had her throat ripped out. When she has to give the death notification to the family, her investigative nature comes out fast and strong when the parents seem too accepting of their daughter's death and make comments that just don't fit.

When the family requests the assistance of the VMF Securities, Kristin is confused that they would think a security company could assist with the murder investigation. When Julian and Alexander arrive she quickly finds herself being pulled into a love triangle that has been going on longer then she has been alive. Why do they look at here as if they know her? And why do they keep talking about Calista?

Join Kristin as she fights to learn the truth about the recent murder, the seductive and blood drinking men that have entered into her life and the rear truth about herself.

Do you have any upcoming projects in the works?
I currently have multiple projects in the works.  The first one is the third book in the series and I am hoping to have it out Spring of 2012.

The second book I am working on is called “Whether I’ll Live or Die”.  It involves the struggles of domestic violence from the view of a victim and the view of a police officer. It is a very intense and emotional book. I am hoping to have it released in Early 2012.

The third book is called “Liveon”.  It is more of a contemporary romance, mystery.  A female police officer has to go undercover to help protect a movie star, but finds she might be putting him in more jeopardy then actually protecting him.

The last project is a collaboration with another author.  It is an intense Action/Drama/Crime book.  The other author and I are working through plot stages right now, although we have already started on a few chapters, we are taking our time.  I have no idea when this project will come to be published, but I know it will be awesome when it is!
